Platform Service Fee and Payment Processing Fee Explained

Last updated: 10/04/2026

This English translation is provided for convenience. If there is any inconsistency, the Traditional Chinese version prevails.

📢 Fee Adjustment Notice (effective January 1, 2027 at 00:00)

For orders "created" on or after January 1, 2027 at 00:00, the platform transaction fee will be adjusted to 3.2% and the auction fee will return to 3.8%. At the same time, the platform will subsidize the credit card payment processing fee, reducing it by 0.6%, from 2.8% to 2.2%.

Note: Pre-orders do not require buyers to place a new order; the fee rate for an automatically created order will be the same as when the order was originally created and will not increase.

Note: The fees on this page will be fully updated when the new rates take effect.

1. Platform Service Fee

To provide a quality trading environment, maintain system stability, protect the rights of both buyers and sellers, and keep developing more convenient e-commerce features, the KOCA platform charges sellers a "platform service fee".

This fee is charged only when an order's payout is completed. If an order is canceled or enters a full refund process, the platform service fee is not charged.

KOCA platform service fee rate (updated April 7, 2026):

A 2% platform service fee is charged on each order.

Calculation basis

The KOCA platform service fee is calculated on the "listing transaction amount". That is, we first deduct the shipping fee from the total amount the buyer pays, and then apply the rate to the remaining listing amount. If the result has decimals, it is rounded up to the next whole number.

Formula

Platform service fee = (total transaction order amount – shipping fee) * platform service fee rate %

Example

  • Scenario: A seller sells merch for $1,000, with shipping of $60. The buyer's total order amount is $1,060.
  • Fee calculation:
    1. First deduct shipping: $1,060 – $60 = $1,000
    2. Calculate the fee: $1,000 * 2% = $20
  • Result: KOCA charges $20 as the platform service fee.

Notes

  1. Rounding: If the result has decimals, it is rounded up to the next whole number.
  2. Promotional discounts: If the seller has set a "seller coupon", the calculation is based on the listing amount after the discount; for a "platform coupon", it is usually calculated on the amount before the discount (subject to KOCA's specific marketing campaign rules)

2. Credit Card Payment Processing Fee

When a buyer pays on the KOCA platform (for example by credit card, bank transfer, or 7-ELEVEN convenience store payment code), the payment service provider (a bank or third-party payment company) charges the seller a fee for that transaction.

This fee is charged by the payment service provider; KOCA only calculates it on their behalf and deducts it from the payment to pay the corresponding payment institution, ensuring the safe flow of transaction funds.

👉🏻 The platform's credit card payments use PAYUNi payment service.

Payment processing rate (updated April 7, 2026):

  • The PAYUNi credit card transaction processing rate is 2.8% (3.5% for foreign cards). For the actual payment rates, see the PAYUNi Fee Schedule

Calculation basis

The payment processing fee is calculated on the "total transaction order amount". That is, banks and payment providers charge on the total amount the buyer actually pays, so the calculation includes both the listing amount and shipping. If the result has decimals, it is rounded up to the next whole number.

If seller-paid free shipping actually applies to an order (the order shows "Free shipping over threshold"), the shipping fee is borne by the seller and is not part of the buyer's payment total, so the payment processing fee on that order does not include shipping. The seller separately bears the shipping fee itself, which is deducted from the order's settlement income.

Formula

Payment processing fee = total transaction order amount * payment processing rate %

Example

  • Scenario: A seller sells merch for $1,000, with shipping of $60. The buyer pays a total of $1,060 by credit card.
  • Fee calculation: Calculated directly on the order total: $1,060 * 2.8% = $29.68 ≒ $30
  • Result: The payment service provider charges $30 as the payment processing fee.
  • Free-shipping scenario: The same $1,000 listing with $60 shipping, but seller-paid free shipping actually applies to the order, so the buyer is charged $1,000 in total. The payment processing fee is $1,000 * 2.8% = $28; the $60 shipping is borne by the seller and deducted from settlement income.

FAQ (Q&A)

Q: Why is the payment processing fee calculated on shipping as well?

A: Payment service providers (such as banks) provide their service on the "total card amount" or "total transfer amount" and cannot tell what proportion of a payment is shipping, so the fee is calculated on the total amount the buyer pays. For orders where seller-paid free shipping actually applies, shipping is borne by the seller and is not part of the buyer's payment total, so it is not included in the payment processing fee.

Q: If a refund happens, will the payment processing fee be refunded?

A: Under the payment service provider's rules, if a partial or full refund occurs, the transaction fee is refunded. Only the payment processing fee on the final amount actually paid is charged.

Q: If a buyer does not pick up an order on time, will they get a full refund?

A: If the merch is returned because it was not picked up on time, the shipping fee and the payment processing fee on the amount actually charged for shipping will be deducted before the remainder is refunded to the buyer's credit card. (Any unclaimed fee set separately by the seller is calculated separately and is not included in the payment processing fee refunded to the card.)

Example: A buyer pays by credit card for a NT$200 listing with NT$65 shipping, for a total charge of NT$265. The buyer does not pick up the order, and is refunded 200 – 65 – (65*0.028 domestic credit card rate) = NT$133.

3. Bank Transfer Payment Processing Fee

Payment processing rate (updated May 29, 2026):

  • The PAYUNi bank transfer transaction processing rate is 1% (capped at $15 per transaction)
  • If a refund occurs, a fixed handling fee of $10 is charged per refund

Calculation basis

The payment processing fee is calculated on the "total transaction order amount". That is, banks and payment providers charge on the total amount the buyer actually transfers, so the calculation includes both the listing amount and shipping. If the result has decimals, it is rounded up to the next whole number.

If seller-paid free shipping actually applies to an order (the order shows "Free shipping over threshold"), the shipping fee is borne by the seller and is not part of the buyer's transfer total, so the payment processing fee on that order does not include shipping.

Formula

Payment processing fee = total transaction order amount * payment processing rate %

Refund handling fee = fixed handling fee of NT$10 per transfer refund

Bank transfer payments are available only if PAYUNi payment service has been activated. If a buyer pays by bank transfer, each order incurs a 1% processing fee on the total transfer amount; if the result has decimals, it is rounded up to the next whole number (capped at NT$15 per transaction).

Example

  • Scenario: A seller sells merch for $1,500, with shipping of $60. The buyer's total transfer is $1,560.
  • Fee calculation: Calculated directly on the order transfer amount: $1,560 * 1% = $15.6 (capped at NT$15 per transaction)
  • Result: The payment service provider charges $15 as the payment processing fee.

FAQ (Q&A)

Q: There is a problem with the merch after pickup. How do I return it and get a refund?

A: For the return and refund process, see Returns and Refunds.

Q: If an order is canceled, will I get a full refund?

A: Whoever presses cancel bears the fees; the refund is reduced by the 1% payment processing fee + the fixed transfer refund fee of NT$10.

Example: A buyer pays by bank transfer for a NT$200 listing with NT$60 shipping, for a total transfer of NT$260, and requests cancellation. The buyer is refunded 260 – (260*0.01 ) – 10 = NT$247.

Q: If a seller's order cannot be fulfilled, or the order is automatically canceled by the system because it was not shipped within 180 days, who bears the refund handling fee?

A: If a seller's order cannot be fulfilled or is automatically canceled by the system for exceeding the shipping deadline, the buyer is refunded in full, and the 1% payment processing fee + the fixed transfer refund fee of NT$10 are deducted from the seller's PAYUNi account.

Q: If a buyer does not pick up an order on time, will they get a full refund?

A: If the merch is returned because it was not picked up on time, the shipping fee, the payment processing fee, and the refund handling fee will be deducted before the remainder is refunded to the buyer. (Any unclaimed fee set separately by the seller is calculated separately and is not included in the payment processing fee on the refund.)

For example: A buyer pays by bank transfer for a NT$200 listing + NT$60 shipping

  • Scenario 1: The seller has not set an unclaimed fee: The buyer's total transfer is $260, and the buyer's refund is 260 – 60 – (260*0.01) – 10 = NT$187.
  • Scenario 2: The seller has set an unclaimed fee: The seller has set a 10% unclaimed fee, the buyer's total transfer is $260, and the buyer's refund is $260 – $60 – $30 = $170. The unclaimed fee the seller receives is $30 – $3 – $10 – $1 = $16.
(Unclaimed fee the seller receives = 10% unclaimed fee – 1% payment processing fee – fixed refund fee of NT$10 – 2% platform service fee)
  • Scenario 3: The seller has set an unclaimed fee, but after deducting the payment processing fee from the unclaimed fee the final refund amount would be less than 0: Scenario 1 applies, and the seller does not receive any unclaimed fee.

4. 7-ELEVEN Convenience Store Payment Code Processing Fee

Payment processing rate:

  • For PAYUNi 7-ELEVEN convenience store payment code payments, a fixed payment processing fee of NT$25 is charged per transaction, regardless of the order amount.
  • If a refund occurs, a fixed handling fee of $10 is charged per refund (same as bank transfer refunds).

Calculation basis

The payment processing fee for 7-ELEVEN convenience store payment code payments is a fixed NT$25 per transaction and does not vary with the order amount or shipping. This fee is absorbed by the seller at checkout and is not added to the amount the buyer must pay.

Formula

Payment processing fee = fixed NT$25 per transaction (borne by the seller, deducted from the seller's final income)

Refund handling fee = fixed handling fee of NT$10 per refund

Example

  • Scenario: The listing price is $1,500 and shipping is $60. The buyer pays with a 7-ELEVEN convenience store payment code, and the total payable is $1,500 + $60 = $1,560.
  • Fee calculation: For 7-ELEVEN convenience store payment code payments, a fixed $25 payment processing fee is charged regardless of the order amount; this fee is borne by the seller and deducted when the seller's final income is settled.
  • Result: The amount the buyer actually pays is $1,560 (not including the payment processing fee); the seller's final income is reduced by the $25 payment processing fee.

FAQ (Q&A)

Q: Can sellers add the NT$25 payment fee for convenience store payment codes on top of the price for the buyer?

A: Yes. 7-ELEVEN convenience store payment code payments are not restricted by related regulations or card issuer rules, so if a buyer wants to pay this way, the seller may add this NT$25 fee on top without violating any rules.

Q: If a buyer paid with a convenience store payment code and did not pick up the order on time, will they get a full refund?

A: If the merch is returned because it was not picked up on time, the shipping fee, the payment processing fee, and the refund handling fee will be deducted before the remainder is refunded to the buyer. (Any unclaimed fee set separately by the seller is calculated separately and is not included in the payment processing fee on the refund.)

For example: A buyer pays with a convenience store payment code for a NT$400 listing + NT$60 shipping, for a total of $460 paid by payment code.

  • Scenario 1: The seller has not set an unclaimed fee: The buyer's refund is $460 − $60 − $25 (fixed payment code fee) − $10 (fixed refund fee) = NT$365.
  • Scenario 2: The seller has set an unclaimed fee: The seller has set a 10% unclaimed fee, and the buyer's refund is $460 − $60 − $40 = $360. The unclaimed fee the seller can actually receive = $40 − $25 − $10 − $1 = $4.
(Unclaimed fee the seller receives = 10% unclaimed fee − fixed payment code fee − fixed refund fee of NT$10 − 2% platform service fee)
  • Scenario 3: The seller has set an unclaimed fee, but after deducting the payment fees the amount the seller can actually receive is less than 0: the calculation for Scenario 1 applies to the whole order, and the seller does not receive any unclaimed fee.

5. New 7-ELEVEN MyShip Shipping Fee Rules from 2026/8/1 and the Refund Mechanism for Unclaimed Shipping Fees

When a buyer does not pick up an order on time and the platform returns the merch to the seller, NT$38 in shipping is deducted from the seller. However, for any order created on the KOCA platform, the seller is not affected in either of the following two ways:

1. The buyer requests a re-order on the original order

Before the package is returned to the seller by the platform, if the buyer requests a re-order on the original order through the platform, NT$60 is automatically added to the new order amount, paid by the buyer. In this case the seller is not charged the NT$38 shipping, and the seller suffers no actual loss in this process.

Example:

The original order is NT$200 for the listing + NT$38 shipping. The buyer requests a re-order on the original order, and the new order requires the buyer to pay NT$200 + NT$38 + NT$60 = NT$298.

Notes

  • Unclaimed shipping fee of NT$60 = 7-ELEVEN MyShip unclaimed package shipping fee of NT$38 + KOCA unclaimed handling fee of NT$22
  • The re-order feature is available only through the platform's in-app re-order mechanism; creating a new order separately between the seller and buyer is not accepted. If a new order is opened in any other way, the platform cannot assist with the later shipping fee compensation process.

2. The buyer pays the account unlock fee under Article 5 of the Terms of Service

When the defaulting buyer on that order pays to unlock their account under Article 5 of the Terms of Service, the platform pays 30% of that unlock fee as unclaimed compensation to the seller of that order.

Example:

The original order is NT$200 for the listing + NT$38 shipping. The buyer pays NT$150 under Article 5 of the Terms of Service to unlock the account, and the seller receives NT$45 in unclaimed compensation.

For a buyer who is suspended for not placing an order after winning an auction, not re-selecting a pickup store within the deadline, or not completing checkout again within the deadline, 30% of the unlock fee for that order is likewise paid as unclaimed compensation to the seller of that order when they pay to unlock.
